Seattle Circle was proud to bring Robert Fripp and the Orchestra of Crafty Guitarists to the Pacific Northwest for 3 performances over Memorial Day weekend 2014:
May 23: First Congregational Church of Bellingham, in Bellingham WA
May 24: First Congregational United Church of Christ, in Portland OR
May 25: Washington Hall, in Seattle WA
In addition to the public performances, on May 22 The Orchestra joined The Seattle Circle Guitar School for a very special event at Fremont Abbey Arts Center in Seattle. Salmon Bay K-8 School 4th and 5th grade instrumental music students performed with The Orchestra at an invitation-only private event. Friends and family were treated to “Norwegian Wood” and “What Does The Fox Say?” from the kids, some collaborative improvisation with The Orchestra and the kids together, and a number of selections from members of The Orchestra, including an original from the trio, Zum, a Frank Zappa composition, and a song by Charles Ives. For the encore of Norwegian Wood, the kids were surprised when The Orchestra joined them. The concert ended with Bert Lams’ “Asturias”. It was a lovely evening, and the children shined!
Orchestra of Crafty Guitarists Director, and Seattle Circle Guitar School Patron, Robert Fripp spoke briefly to the audience about the importance of Music in children’s education.
